“Debian Unstable is truly unstable and will probably stay that way. Users who want their systems to work reliably should steer clear of unstable. If members of the MEPIS community want to install packages from unstable, they are welcome to do so, as long as they realize that by doing so they have become bleeding-edge testers of software that is not yet ready for everyday use. Debian Etch is also changing quickly but at least it is stable most of the time.”
Warren continues “We've made adjustments to our development process, so MEPIS releases will be easier to manage in the future. And we think we have found a sweet spot where the core of SimplyMEPIS is synced to Debian Etch and where it is tweaked to just work.”
