First look: Ubuntu Dapper Drake Beta

With both excitement and trepidation Techtonic have downloaded Ubuntu Dapper Drake's beta release last night and started testing it this morning.

Finally, I think some work still needs to be done on the install disc. Some of the problems were obvious beta issues — simple bugs that I'm sure will be fixed. Others, like the decision to not have a text-based install as an option — seem to be more design decisions.

The install, for me at least, was an amazingly painful process, which it really shouldn't have been considering Ubuntu's ever-widening audience. I still think that the combined live/install CD is the way forward, but I think that it needs a critical eye as to how to get the most flexibility out of it.
