Its pretty much happening because of one guy. That one guy's smart though. He claims that he'll keep it free, but won't deny he's seeking eventual returns from Ubuntu. Meaning no social contract. The result is a pretty website, colorful bootscreen, and the final most interesting thing about Ubuntu, the cult.
