Downtime: Hardware upgrade of Alioth

Raphael Hertzog announces that and its related services (svn|bzr|git|arch) will be stopped on Friday 27th october at 15:00 UTC.

Hello, and its related services (svn|bzr|git|arch)
will be stopped on Friday 27th october at 15:00 UTC. Soon after we
will do the final rsync between the current hosts (costa.d.o, haydn.d.o)
and the new one (a Xen host on featuring 1TB of disk,
16GB of RAM and a bi-opteron).

The rsync process will last around 4 hours. After that we will upgrade the
Gforge to version 4.5. If all goes well, the services should be available
again at 22:00 UTC.

Since the upgrade merges two hosts in a single one, some special treatment
will be made for home directories and crontab of costa:
– if you had a non-empty home directory on costa, you will have a symlink
“COSTA_home” in your new home directory pointing to a copy of your old
home directory. Please move any data from that directory into your real
home directory.
– if you had a crontab on costa, you will have a file “COSTA_crontab” in
your home directory and if needed you can install the crontab in the
current crontab (which effectively is a copy of haydn's crontab).

In the process of migrating, we documented many known customizations that
had been made on alioth's setup, but it's possible that we forgot some.
It's quite possible that some packages will be missing.

If you were using a non-standard theme, you'll be disappointed to learn
that most themes have not been ported to gforge 4.5 and that you'll only
have the default theme.

Once the migration is over, please report any problem to or #alioth on
