Life with Ubuntu on Acer Aspire 5052AWXMi

Well i decided to set myself the little task of setting up a laptop to run Linux for myself to take around. This website will list all of the stages i went through to get it working.

So now you have received your laptop its time for the hands on part of this project.

You have to first decide what Distro you want. I chose to install Ubuntu, because in my opinion it rocks. Its a great distro for new people to Linux aswell because of the comprehensive installation system. So now you’ve got your distro decided its time to download it and burn it to disc (i will explain this in more detail at a later date). Once the disc is ready turn on your laptop and pop in the disc. Restart your laptop and go into BIOS settings. The reason your doing this is to set your CD/DVD drive as your primary boot device, when this is set exit bios and save your changes. Your laptop will then start to load up and the install disc will kick in.
