Debian-news is about one simple thing - news about Debian GNU/Linux and the top free distributions based on Debian GNU/Linux.

linux.conf.au 2008 will run from January 28th to February 2nd 2008 and
the first two days are dedicated to Miniconfs, which are
community-organised streams for specific areas of interest. The Debian
Miniconf is the oldest and has been one of the biggest Miniconfs at LCA
and has always attracted great speakers and an enthusiastic crowd of
Debianistas.

If you have an idea for a presentation at the Debian Miniconf please
email me at jon@oxer.com.au.

Please note that because the Debian Miniconf is not a stand-alone event
but is a part of linux.conf.au 2008 it's necessary for all participants
including speakers to be registered for the main conference itself. So
if you want to come to the Debian Miniconf just sign up for
linux.conf.au and come along for the fun!

Transport / accomodation is up to you: please check the main conference
site at http://lca2008.linux.org.au/ if you need help.

In addition to the Debian Miniconf, linux.conf.au 2008 will also feature
the very first Distro Summit. The Distro Summit is intended to find ways
the various distributions can work together by sharing knowledge of
processes and infrastructure. World domination through cooperation! If
you would like to present at the Distro Summit please check the site for
more information:

Feel free to forward this email to local LUG mailing lists or anyone
else who may be interested.

from across the world. It will be held from January 28th to February
2nd, 2008 at The University of Melbourne.

== About Linux Australia ==

Linux Australia (http://www.linux.org.au/) is the peak body for Linux
User Groups (LUGs) around Australia, and as such represents
approximately 5000 Australian Linux users and developers. Linux
Australia facilitates the organisation of this international Free
Software conference in a different Australasian city each year.

Learning more about computers might not be just finding out about the newest laptop on the market or what kind of super powerful computer that scientists might use. Sometimes it can be fun to go back and read about the history of the computer, or skip ahead to learn about the first PDAs released.
