Debian-news is about one simple thing - news about Debian GNU/Linux and the top free distributions based on Debian GNU/Linux.

The current Debian flavours

While Googling around and forumming around you might notice that people use different Debian flavours, there are 3 different flavours right now – Etch, Sid and Lenny
Read it here

Debian Etch: It’s the ”Official version” also known as ‘’stable”
Debian Sid: This is the ”unstable” version. A version that will never be officially released. It’s purely used for development work. Think off it as a Debian sandbox
Debian Lenny: The future ”Official version”, the future stable. It’s available for testing.
By all means, if you are a Debian n00b stick with Debian Etch. Don’t worry about the the stable version being boring. For a n00b it is bleeding edge enough, I would know….
