I had hesitated with this upgrade because Warren had switched from Ubuntu core to Debian core which made the upgrade path take a detour from simple synaptic package download to install version 7.0 by CD download. Since this was a change in the core, I had to make sure I had everything backed up in case a major error occurred and I was lazy to do it. I can report that the upgrade went pretty smooth and my home directory was preserved without any problems and I didn't need to do any backup restorations. I had to do some basic housekeeping, but that was very minor.
