Debian vs. Shuttleworth
Which came first? The Debian or the Shuttleworth. Much has been made of Mark Shuttleworth’s efforts to get Debian to ‘release on time’ vs. ‘release when ready’. According to Mark this would make things easier for the derivative folks like Ubuntu and upstream developers. More here
Even though Shuttleworth’s offer of help may be a bit self-serving there is no reason to think that he has anything but the best intentions. The devil lies in the possible unintended consequences.
Perhaps Shuttleworth should leave Debian GNU/Linux to the Debian community and appreciate their work, which he doesn’t have to duplicate with great effort and expense.
