Bits from the NM Process

Hello, time for some news from the NM process.

New Front Desk member
———————

After having been FD assistant for some time, please welcome Xavier
Oswald as full FD member!

New Front Desk tasks
——————–

Front Desk has also picked up a few more tasks, relieving the Alioth
admins from approving requests to join the collab-maint project [CM],
and DSA from approving requests of temporary porterbox accounts for
non-DDs [GA].

We want stronger keys
———————

Following an announcement from keyring-maint [KM]:

Anybody who is currently a DD or DM, or that has started his
application towards becoming one, will be allowed with whatever key
they currently have – But effective October 1st, no applications for
DM or DD should be processed with anything less than a 2048R
SHA2-capable key.

If you are already in the NM process, have a 1024D key and are planning
to upgrade to a stronger key, now is a good time to do it: if you get
the stronger key in the DD keyring right away, there won’t be a need to
bother keyring-maint with a migration later on.

Your AM or Front Desk can assist with finding other DDs near you or with
tips on key migration.

General Resolution: Debian project members
——————————————

At Front Desk we are all anxious to see what the outcome of the current
[GR] will be: please don’t forget to vote!
