Unfortunately, iotop requires Python >= 2.5 and a Linux kernel >= 2.6.20 to work, and even if the installation is very simple as presented in my last post, getting it to run on older distributions might not be so easy.

After having brought my wife’s computer from Etch to Lenny already two weeks ago, which as it ran on an almost stock Etch went quite seamlessly, despite the X drivers needed to be reinstalled manually, I also upgraded my T43p to Lenny.

Last week-end, Debian Lenny 5.0 was finally released. I use Debian on most servers I manage at work. A few of them were already using Lenny when it was still the testing branch, but most are still on Debian Etch.
